Northolt Simarama progress being made

Northolt Mandeville ward conservative councillors, Cllrs Hazel Ware, Dawn Larmouth and Eileen Harris, recently joined workmen at the site of the £15 million leisure centre and library to isnpect the foundations being dug. Demolition of the rundown Northolt Swimarama, in Eastcote Lane North, began last month, and construction of the steel frame of the building is due to begin in February. The new facilty will include:

• 8-lane 25-metre competition pool
• 12 x 16 metre learner pool
• dance studio
• gym with 120 - 140 fitness stations
• additional community hall for the Northolt area
• additional library for the Northolt area
• café with internet facilities
• a police safer neighbourhood ward base

Conservatives Ward councillor, Cllr Haze Ware welcomed the construction of the new centre and said she was pleased that progress was being made. She said:

“As Conservatives we made this leisure centre and new library a priority from when we were elected in 2006, so it is really pleasing that the physical work is going so smoothly.  It will be a marvellous new facility for the people of Northolt, I look forward to being at the opening in just over a year.”
