Ian Gibb

About Ian

Ian Gibb is the Conservative's Parliamentary Candidate for Ealing North, has lived in Ealing since 1986. Ian married Louise in 1990 at St John's Church in West Ealing (where they regularly worships) and they have two young children, Samuel and Elizabeth who both attend Ealing schools.

Ian is a civil engineer and his career has been spent in the construction industry. He has had a variety of different roles including being responsible for developing a multi-million pound international manufacturing business.

Ian has been an Ealing North councillor since 1992, representing Cleveland Ward. He is currently Deputy Leader of Ealing Council and Cabinet Member for Children's Services. He is a governor at North Ealing Primary School and also is a memeber of the board of governors at Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College. In his spare time, Ian can usually be found every other Saturday at Griffin Park watching Brentford. He is also a member at Ealing Cricket Club and enjoys spending time with his family or pottering around in the garden.

Campaigns

Building on the success of our campaign to scrap Ken's unwanted West London Tram scheme, we are currently campaigning to

  • improve Greenford Town Centre
  • scrap the Northolt Bus Lanes
  • get a better deal for Council tenants
  • stop post office closures
  • protect local A&E services
  • make our streets safer
  • build a new high school in Ealing North

Beliefs

Ian is passionate about education. With two children in Ealing's schools he has experienced at first hand the strength and weaknesses of local schools. He wants a great education to be available to all Ealing's youngsters.

Ian is a strong advocate for children in the care system and is proud that Ealing sends more of its looked after children to University than any other council in the country.

Ian is a strong supporter of the United Kingdom and is appalled at how Labour's meddling with the UK's constitution has threatened the union's future. Ian believes that a strong economy is essential to drive the investment needed in schools and health and to meet our environmental and global responsibilities.

He would like to see our police, teachers and doctors freed up from needless bureaucracy and allowed to get on with their jobs. He is concerned that the Labour Government is excessively eroding individual freedom and is disgusted at their attempts to force through the new EU constitution without a referendum.
